Make-up Tips for Eczema Sufferers

Make-up Tips for Eczema Sufferers
When you’re dealing with eczema on a daily basis, make-up can be a tricky one. Everyone has those down days when you look in the mirror and feel like you could really do with bit of a glow-up. With eczema, however, that’s easier said than done. Many eczema-sufferers find that regular foundations cause flare-ups. They’re thick, sticky and close off your skin, leaving you worse off than when you started! Rosalique is specifically formulated to be light on the skin, provide excellent coverage for redness and to calm and soothe the skin at the same time! It’s also specifically formulated for those with super sensitive skin. With that in mind, here are a few handy tips for applying make-up while dealing with eczema – if you choose to do so, of course. There’s no reason we can’t feel comfortable, beautiful and be kind to our skin at the same time!

First things first: moisturize as much as you can before applying any kind of make-up. We’d recommend using products from our sister company Salcura, as they are designed with eczema-prone skin in mind. The DermaSerum is developed specifically for use on the face, to strengthen skin and fight dryness, flakiness and other such skin conditions. It is in credibly light, but Salcura’s DermaSpray, which has very similar active ingredients, is even lighter. Designed specifically to be sprayed on (hence the name), it sinks in quickly, reducing the need for you to rub your face while avoiding agitating your skin. Speaking of which…

Tip number two: minimise contact. Going in with heavy brush strokes from a thick brush or going a little overboard on the blending can wreak havoc on eczema-prone skin and increase the likelihood of your skin beginning to flake. Try to pat on make-up instead of rubbing it in. Use very gentle brushes or sponges to even out the coverage but, remember, the less you touch, the better.

If you do have to touch, tip three will come in handy: avoid powders as much as possible. They’re dry and difficult to blend using minimal contact. We recommend using Rosalique as a foundation for all your make-up needs, flare-up or not. It comes in liquid form, for a start, and works to soothe and protect your skin as well through active ingredients such as alpha-bisabolol, panthenol and shea butter. If you feel you do need to use a powder, keep it minimal and light. On the surface, steer clear of glittery, shiny and fragrant products to allow your skin space to breathe and heal.

Finally, we’ll suggest you simply keep things minimal. It might be a big step to go out with minimal make-up on, especially if you’re feeling self-conscious about your skin, but the important thing to remember is that no matter what make-up you decide to apply, your natural radiance will shine through all the same. If your skin is not feeling the foundation today – ditch it! You could put on a funky eye or a bold lip to draw attention to other areas of your face, or you could just focus on feeling comfortable and nourishing your skin as you boss your way through the day. Remember that you’re beautiful no matter what you wear!
